The Irish mezzo has risen to a high position as an exponent of numerous major roles around the world but enjoys a particular relationship with the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, where she received the prestigious Pro meritis scientiae et litterarum award in 2013 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the arts; earlier this year she was artist-in-residence at the Glimmerglass Festival.
