George Jeffreys, organist to Charles I during his time at Oxford during England’s Civil War, was known during his lifetime for championing the latest Italian musical styles. Solomon’s Knot rescued the composer from footnote obscurity with its enthralling recording of his songs, continuing to champion his work with this semi-staged programme with dialogue written by Federay Holmes.
